In the early hours of July 3, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai executed aerial bombardments near Degbewa and Chinene, known terrorist hideouts in the Mandara Mountains.

The strikes resulted in the elimination of numerous terrorists and the destruction of their structures.

Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet confirmed the successful operation.

He said the air operations were initiated after several days of surveillance over Chinene and Degbewa, which revealed a significant gathering of terrorists.

The locations were also suspected to be sites for manufacturing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and storage areas.

The terrorists, unaware of the impending attack, were seen loitering in the vicinity, confident in the security of their location.

Gabkwet added that the air strikes were authorized, and aircraft bombarded the sites in multiple passes, successfully neutralizing the majority of the terrorists.

Those attempting to flee were targeted and eliminated using cannons.
