I read supporters of Godwin Obaseki labouring to state that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu stole 700 million naira from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or from former National Security Adviser, Col.Sambo Dasuki (retd.) with a lot of amusement, knowing that they are being mischievous after seeing that Godwin Obaseki has nọ hope of returning as Ẹdo governor and the only hope is to spread falsehoods against an innocent man, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who has been chosen to replace the Godwin Obaseki.
If they had any sense of correctness and fairmess, the immediate past Chairman of PDP, Dan Orbih and the current Chairman of PDP, Tony Aziegbemi, are co-defendants in that case. Did they also steal the money? Why are Obaseki’s people not talking about these PDP leaders?
For the avoidance of doubts and to properly situate the facts, I hereby make the following clarifications:
Olisa Metuh took money from Dasuki, using the account of his personal company and could not explain what the money was meant for and họw it was utilised. Ize-Iyamu and the other defendants in thẹ current case did not take any money from Dasuki. The so-called N700m was not from Dasuki but from private donations to the PDP. Sọ, it was not Government money but Party money sourced from various private donations.
Furthermore, the money was not paid to Ize-Iyamu but to Ẹdo PDP where the then Party Chairman, Dan Orbih, signed together with the present Chairman Tony Aziegbemi, Osagie Ize-Iyamu as Campaign DG and two others.
The devious and malicious campaigns cannot change the case or make Ize-Iyamu complicit.
These desperate supporters of Obaseki in their desperation are hanging to any thread of hope, but it is God-ordained that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu will be governor of Edo State and this is his time.
It is trite to further clarify that unlike Olisa Metuh, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu did not have any direct dealing with the money apart from signing for it together with some other PDP leaders including Dan Orbih, the then Chairman and Tony Aziegbemhi, the current Chairman, at the Bank as Director General of the Goodluck Jonathan campaign organisation in Edo State.
The said fund was subsequently taken by officials of the Bank to Chief Tony Anenih for onward disbursements to the various senatorial districts, local government areas, wards and units;
The money was meant to provide for transportation amd other logistics for party members to mobilise for the election and could not have gone through banks as many parts of Edo State are largely bucolic without banking facilities, but senatorial leaders, local government leaders, ward and unit leaders all over the State however signed for and got money meant for their various constituencies, without any complain whatsoever.
There is nothing in the charge accusing Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of larceny, theft, embezzlement or theft of the fund.
The general public is hereby advised to discountenance the shenanigans of mischief makers, media hatchet men and drowning politicians. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is a credible political leader whose desire is to use public office for the general good always.
