A former Special Adviser, Legal Matters to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy Senate President, Daniel Bwala, has formally joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The development was confirmed by Bwala himself in a statement on Friday evening via his micro-blogging page on Twitter.

Bwala had announced his resignation hours after the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, on Sunday, July 10 while in Daura, unveiled Kasim Shettima as his running nate in consummation of his decision to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket..

Tinubu announced the former Governor of Borno State as the APC vice presidential candidate despite calls against the Muslim/Muslim ticket in the 2023 general elections.

Bwala in a post on his Twitter account on Sunday noted that he was dumping the ruling party on principles and convictions that he held so dear.

He wrote: “Tonight I officially resigned my membership of @OfficialAPCNg on principles and conviction that I hold so dear. At this time of our national existence, our efforts and energy should gravitate towards uniting our people.”

On Friday, 29th July, Bwala citing three reasons for his action, announced that he has joined the PDP.

He wrote: “Today I officially joined @OfficialPDPNig for the following reasons;
1. PDP presents a clear vision for one Nigeria.
2. PDP is the party with the realistic chance of defeating APC.
3. Atiku is the only candidate with superior experience to lead Nigeria out of the woods.”
