The National Orthopaedic Hospital in Benin City is mourning the loss of a remarkable matriarch, Chief (Mrs) Victoria Aniso Ugbodaga, the mother of the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Philip Ugbodaga.
Chief (Mrs) Ugbodaga, who died on October 21, 2025, was aged 102 years.
She left behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication to her community.
Chief (Mrs) Ugbodaga was a pillar of her community, known for her tireless efforts in empowering women, promoting education, and supporting healthcare initiatives.
Her selfless nature and generosity inspired countless individuals, and her impact will be felt for generations to come.
The management and staff members of the National Orthopaedic Hospital extended their heartfelt condolences to Dr. Philip Ugbodaga, his family, and loved ones.
“The hospital community stands in solidarity with the family during this difficult time and invites colleagues, patients, and well-wishers to join in celebrating the life and legacy of Chief (Mrs) Ugbodaga,” a statement Mrs Vera Akpololohor of the Public Relations Department said.
“As the family prepares to lay their beloved matriarch to rest, funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
“In the meantime, those who wish to express their condolences or obtain further information can contact the Public Relations Department of the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Benin City.
“May the soul of Chief (Mrs) Victoria Aniso Ugbodaga rest in perfect peace,” the statement added.

The Management and Staff of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Benin City, regret to announce the passing of the beloved mother of the Medical Director of the National Orthopaedic Hospital Benin City, Chief (Mrs) Victoria Aniso Ugbodaga, who lived a fulfilling 102 years.
A dedicated community leader, philanthropist, and loving matriarch, Chief (Mrs) Ugbodaga’s legacy of service, love, and strength will be deeply missed but remembered fondly.
Her contributions to women’s empowerment, education, and healthcare initiatives had a lasting impact on the community and beyond.
The Management and Staff extend heartfelt condolences to our Medical Director, Dr Philip Ugbodaga, his family, and loved ones.
