Morocco 2025: Flamingos floor South Africa to seal final round ticket

Nigeria’s Flamingos sealed a place in the final qualifying round of the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Bantwana of South Africa at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne on Saturday.

Nigeria qualified 5-1 on aggregate, having won the first leg 3-1 in Pretoria last weekend.

The Flamingos failed to make their dominance count until the 37th minute when Harmony Chidi broke the deadlock.

Chidi slotted home expertly from inside the box.

It was Chidi’s third goal in the qualifying series.

Aishat Animashaun doubled the Flamingos lead 11 minutes after the break.

Bankole Olowookere’s side will face the winner of the game between Botswana and Algeria in the final round.

The winner is guaranteed a place at the U-17 Women’s World Cup which will be hosted by Morocco later in the year.
