In a decisive counterterrorism operation, Sector 3 troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have dealt a significant blow to Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in the Kukawa and Monguno areas of Borno State, Nigeria.

In a statement on Monday, Chief Military Information Officer at MNJTF headquarters in N’Djamena, Chad, Lieut. Col. Olaniyi Osoba said the operation, which involved coordinated air and ground assaults, neutralized five terrorists, with several others fleeing with injuries.

The terrorists, who launched an attack using suicide Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs), were repelled by the MNJTF’s superior firepower.

Key assets recovered during the mission include 40 motorbikes outfitted with assorted weapons, four anti-aircraft guns, and one rocket-propelled grenade.

Additionally, MNJTF air assets successfully destroyed three VBIEDs.

However, the operation was not without loss, as three soldiers tragically paid the supreme price.

Osoba emphasized the task force’s commitment to eradicating terrorism in the Lake Chad region and ensuring the safety of its residents.

This operation highlights the MNJTF’s ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore peace to the affected areas.
