The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has condemned the dissemination of misleading propaganda by ISWAP/Boko Haram, shared on TikTok through the account “Albanarwy 1446” (ibn Abubakar Albanarwy).

In a statement, Chief Military Information Officer, MNJTF HQ N’Djamena, Chad Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba said the footage falsely portrayed a cooperative relationship between these terrorist groups and Lake Chad Basin communities, purporting ISWAP/Boko Haram as protectors enforcing Sharia law to foster peace in the area.

He said the manipulated content includes testimonials from farmers, herders, and fishermen, falsely emphasizing a peaceful coexistence under ISWAP/Boko Haram’s control. MNJTF clarified that the footage distorts reality, concealing atrocities, including forced displacement, kidnappings, and other acts of violence perpetrated by these groups.

Over the past year, MNJTF has made strides in stabilizing the region, aiding the return of over 30,000 refugees and displaced persons, with renewed community life in areas such as Kirawa, Banki, and Baga.

The MNJTF also lauded regional cooperation that has reopened key trade routes between N’Djamena, Kousseri, and Maiduguri, essential for economic stability and security.

Operation Lake Sanity 2, recently concluded, led to the neutralization of numerous terrorist fighters, the rescue of hostages, and recovery of weaponry.

The MNJTF has urged social media platforms to remove extremist content, emphasizing its commitment to protecting civilians and fostering sustainable peace in the region.
