The Kano State Ministry for Public Procurement, Project Monitoring and Evaluation has commenced a comprehensive assessment of 619 constituency projects, as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability and value for money in public project execution.
The Commissioner of the ministry, Nura Ma’aji-Sumaila, said on Thursday in Kano that the initiative reflected government’s commitment to ensuring that public projects are executed according to standards and in citizens’ interest.
The exercise, he said, had been over projects facilitated by members of the Kano State House of Assembly and implemented across 484 wards in the state.
According to him, the assessment targets projects executed between 2023 and 2025 under the administration of Gov. Abba Kabir-Yusuf.
The commissioner further explained that the exercise was aimed at evaluating levels of implementation, quality of work, compliance with approved specifications and the impact on beneficiary communities.
“To ensure effective coverage, the ministry has deployed six monitoring teams to inspect projects across the state’s 44 local government areas, with each team assigned multiple project sites,” he said.

He added that the exercise would help identify abandoned, substandard or delayed projects for necessary action, stressing that contractors must adhere strictly to contractual agreements and approved specifications.
