Barring any unforeseen circumstance, Benue State House of Assembly Speaker and Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) Governorship Candidate in next year’s election, Hon. Titus Uba, who has been out of the country for medical care will return to Nigeria on December 30.
Uba, who suddenly took ill after an initial hectic campaign last October, has been out of the political scene in Benue state.
He was initially taken to a private hospital in Abuja for medical checks but later transferred to a medical facility in Frankfurt, Germany, where he has been receiving treatment since the last one month, according to a report by DAILY ASSET.
Uba’s absence has been a source of anxiety and tension in Benue political circles, particularly in the opposition camp, which alleged that there was a move to replace him on grounds of incapacitation.
A source close to the governorship candidate however, told DAILY ASSET on Christmas Day that the Governorship hopeful has indeed completed his medical check up and was due to return to the country on December 30.
“I can tell you on good authority that unless there is a change of programme, our candidate will return to the country on December 30,” the source, a Chieftain of the PDP close to Uba, told DAILY ASSET adding, ” Uba is in good health and ready to return and face his campaign for governorship.
The source also hinted that Uba “will be received by the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom and other party stalwarts and supporters” on January 3, 2023 in Makurdi at a grand civic reception to welcome him back from the medical trip.
The source further said that Uba would arrive in Abuja on the December 30, but would be in Makurdi on the January 3, 2023 for a number of activities scheduled in his honour but did not elaborate on the nature or venue of the “activities”.
The source declined all entreaties to speak on the nature of the medical challenge encountered by Uba but was emphatic that the medical trip was successful, and Uba was fit to resume official and other campaign activities. (Daily Asset)
