Massive turnout as Gbenga Hashim sweeps Accord Party presidential ticket with 423,902 votes

● Unopposed but affirmed: Jigawa, Kano deliver 322K votes as Hashim positions Accord as “credible alternative”

Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has emerged as Accord Party’s presidential candidate for the forthcoming election after party faithful across multiple states affirmed his candidacy in nationwide primaries.

Though unopposed, the party conducted full primaries to allow formal democratic endorsement.

The exercise recorded what officials called a “massive turnout” of members and supporters.

—423,902 affirmative votes—

Results as of filing showed Hashim secured 423,902 affirmative votes nationwide. The North West dominated:

Jigawa: 198,200 votes
Kano: 124,101 votes
Nasarawa: 47,309 votes
Kebbi: 46,852 votes
Lagos: 4,548 votes
Kwara: 3,348 votes

Party officials described the process as “peaceful, transparent and reflective of confidence in Hashim’s leadership and vision”.

—“Bridge builder” pitch for 2027—

Supporters hailed Hashim as a “bridge builder” who can heal North-South divisions and unite Nigerians across religious lines. They said his emergence gives Accord Party a platform for reconciliation in a politically fragmented country and signals readiness to mobilize nationwide ahead of 2027.

Hashim, a former presidential candidate and ex-NNPC board member, now leads Accord’s charge to present what the party calls a “credible alternative” to APC, PDP, ADC, NDC and LP.

With Jigawa and Kano delivering 76% of his votes, Hashim’s base is clearly North West. The test will be how far Accord can expand that beyond its strongholds before INEC’s Aug 29, 2026 candidate submission deadline.
