Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/CEO of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has urged students at the Nigerian Military School (NMS) to embody discipline, hard work, loyalty, and patriotism throughout their education and beyond.
Addressing the 70th Foundation Day parade as the special guest of honour, Marwa emphasized the importance of these values in their future careers and personal lives.
In a statement released by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media & Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters in Abuja, Marwa praised the quality of education at NMS, describing it as a solid foundation for future success.
He warned the students against substance abuse, noting its detrimental effects on personal and professional development.
Marwa commended the contributions of NMS to the Nigerian Army and other sectors, highlighting its role in shaping disciplined and skilled individuals.
Speaking directly to the Class 6 Boys, he said, “The education and solid foundation you have acquired in this prestigious institution will serve as a springboard for your future endeavors. Discipline, hard work, loyalty, and patriotism should guide your actions.”
He further encouraged all students to uphold the high standards of discipline for which NMS is known.
“Your commandant is resolute in maintaining discipline, and I urge you to strive to uphold these standards,” he said.
Marwa also advocated for a drug-free lifestyle, stating that drug abuse complicates life rather than solving problems.
“Embrace a drug-free life by choosing positive and healthy habits. With the world at your feet and God by your side, you can make decisions that lead to a safe and productive future,” he advised.
Reflecting on his own experiences as an NMS alumnus and a graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Marwa proposed automatic admission of graduating NMS boys into the NDA.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the reviewing officer, recalling his time at NMS and his participation in the Foundation Day parade in 1966.
Marwa commended NMS for its significant contributions to national development since its establishment in 1954, acknowledging its role in training proficient leaders for the Nigerian Armed Forces and beyond.
