Many members of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) band team died in a fatal accident on the Kano/Zaria road on Sunday morning.
Unconfirmed reports said all the band members died in the accident.
However, the cause of the accident and the actual number of personnel who died had yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
The Headquarters of the Service in Abuja has been thrown into mourning following the fatal accident.
Reports said that the bus conveying the band was returning from Kano on Sunday morning after the band had performed at the Presidential Commissioning and Passing Out Parade of the 48th Superintendent Basic Course 2023 at the Immigration Training School, Kano.
The event was attended by the Acting Comptroller General of the Immigration Service, Mrs Wura-Ola Adepoju, and other top management members of the Service.
The Service Public Relations Officer, Dr Dotun Aridegbe, only responded by saying, “We are in a very pensive mood right now”, when he was asked to confirm the incident.
