English Premier League giants, Manchester City, have crashed out of the UEFA Champions League, following a shock defeat to French Ligue 1 side, Lyon.
The French side took the lead in the 24th minute through a Maxwel Cornet’s curler inside the near post.
Kevin De Bruyne equalised for the English side in the 69th minute after receiving a perfect pass from Raheem Sterling in the Lyon box.
But Lyon got back in front with a controversial effort in the Quarterfinal clash. Substitute Moussa Dembele netted past Ederson with VAR ruling there was no offside in the build-up.
Pep Guardiola’s side had a glorious chance to get back into the contest in the 86th minute but somehow Sterling missed an open goal by blazing the ball over the crossbar.
One minute later, he was punished by Dembele who bagged his second goal to make it 3-1. Ederson couldn’t hold on to a low shot and gifted the ball to Dembele who tapped home.
Lyon are now through to the Semifinals to face German champions, Bayern Munich, who embarrassed Barcelona on Friday with a 2-8 scoreline.
