Life is often described as a race—fast-paced, competitive, and filled with distractions. It is a journey marked by battles, pressures, and moments of uncertainty. In the midst of it all, one question remains central: How can I be a winner in this one life?
Winning in life is not merely about competing with others; it is about fulfilling your God-given purpose despite the opposition you may face. There are forces that attempt to hinder progress and derail destiny, but the true path to victory lies in discovering and walking in the winning way.
The winning way is captured in the powerful truth of Isaiah 40:28–31. This passage reminds us that God never grows tired or weary, and more importantly, He gives strength to those who do.
There are moments in every human life when weakness, discouragement, and fatigue set in. No one is exempt. However, Isaiah 40:31 provides the solution:
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
This scripture reveals a divine strategy for continuous victory—renewing your strength.
In practical terms, strength is like energy—the capacity to keep going, to keep working, to keep pursuing purpose. Power, on the other hand, is the ability to release that energy effectively. To remain effective in life, you need a constant renewal of strength. Without it, even the most determined individual will grow weary.
The good news is found in Isaiah 40:29:
“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”
This means that weakness is not the end—it is an opportunity for divine renewal.
When do you need to renew your strength?
First, when you find yourself in confusion, facing temptation, persecution, or overwhelming problems. These are clear signals that you need spiritual renewal.
Second, during seasons of transition or elevation—when you are about to step into a new level of life. Whether it is graduating, getting married, starting a business, entering a new job, or embracing parenthood, these moments often come with intensified challenges.
A powerful example is seen in Luke 22:39–43, where Jesus, at a critical moment before His crucifixion, withdrew to pray:
“…and being in an agony he prayed more earnestly… And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.”
Even at His most intense moment of pressure, strength came through divine connection.
This brings us to a vital question: Where do you go when you face challenges?
Do you turn to distractions like social media, or do you turn to God? Your source determines your strength. If you do not intentionally renew your strength, weariness will eventually set in.
How, then, do you renew your strength?
The answer is simple, yet profound: Go to God.
It is in His presence that strength is restored, clarity is gained, and purpose is realigned. Waiting on Him—through prayer, reflection, and trust—is not a passive act; it is an active exchange of your weakness for His strength.
The winning way is not the absence of struggle, but the presence of renewed strength in the midst of it. When you learn to consistently draw from God, you will not only endure life’s race—you will run it with endurance, rise above challenges, and ultimately win.
