Nigeria’s legendary juju maestro, Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, aka King Sunny Ade, reportedly declared “kidnapped” on Monday, April 28, 2025, by one of his daughters, Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye,
is now claimed to be safe and sound.
THE CONCLAVE reports that the inimitable juju musician had yet to make a public appearance as of the time of this report to discount and personally dismantle the sensational rumour of his purported disappearance and/or “kidnap.”
One of his sons, Dayo Adegeye, who doubles as his manager, dismissed on behalf of the family of the prominent Nigerian musician the claims about his disappearance or kidnapping.
Interestingly, Dayo Adegeye, is a stepbrother to Damilola whom she insinuated into the plan to sequester their father-the musician.
She was reported to have sounded the alarm that King Sunny Ade had been rendered unreachable for some time.
But Dayo, in a statement on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, clarified that their father “is safe and sound.”
He described the rumour of his disappearance or “kidnap” as a “malicious” attempt to tarnish the legendary musician’s image.
According to him, “We want to assure the public that King Sunny Ade is safe and sound.
“There is no truth to the kidnapping rumour, and we are taking appropriate steps to address the situation and identify those responsible for spreading this false information.”
Adegeye reassured fans and well-wishers that “the King of World Beats, King Sunny Ade, is not abducted or kidnapped by anyone.
“The Adegeye family and King Sunny Ade’s team are working diligently to put an end to the rumour and protect his reputation.
“The public can rest assured that King Sunny Ade is in good health and spirits, and his focus remains on his music and legacy.”
It would be recalled that Damilola had sounded the alarm that her father had been isolated from his family.
A senior journalist with THISDAY Newspaper, Olawale Olaleye, also confirmed this in a post he shared on Facebook while searching for KSA.
Damilola had on social media accused some persons of keeping her father away from the family.
She said those involved were managing her father’s business and, in some instances, were taking playing appointments they knew he could not keep.
She said such promised appearances were accepted by two persons she did not fully name without the consent of King Sunny Ade.
She thus implored the police to step in so as to unravel the true situation of things with her father. [With report by Eagle Online]
