A man has showcased a mobile portable house that can be lifted and planted anywhere-whether or not the land belongs to the owner of the movable, portable house.
If the land belongs to the owner, then she/he is home and dry; otherwise, she/he risks an ejection suit from the piece of land, not being the owner of the title to the land.
To escape consequential losses, the portsble house can simply be moved elsewhere. This is because the owner of the land owns the fixtures thereon.
This is the core of Quicquid plantatur solo, solo cedit- a legal Latin principle related to fixtures, which means that something that is or becomes affixed to the land becomes part of the land.
Therefore, the title to the fixture is a part of the land and passes with title to the land.
Consequently, whosoever owns that piece of land will also own the things attached.
But a TikTok video, which shows a beautiful house that could be lifted and taken to anywhere, has presented a solution to the consequential loss of fixtures on a land, especially plots of land that are long abandoned, undeveloped and perhaps appropriated for the purpose of “planting” the portable house.
In the video posted by TikTok user, Oladele, many of the mobile houses were seen as they were being lifted with a crane.
The houses, which appear to be one-room apartments, are beautifully painted and neatly roofed.
The interiors of one of them were shown in the video, indicating that the house has all the things seen in a normal house.
For instance, the floor is well-tiled with shiny floor tiles that make it look beautiful to look at.
Each of the houses has two windows. Also, there is a restroom and bathroom fitted into each of them.
All you need is a parcel of land to own a mobile house
Oladele said while posting the video that all the owner needs is to have a parcel of land.
If one has a parcel of land, the house would then be lifted and planted on it with the use of a crane.
He wrote: “Mobile house is now in Nigeria, you only need land.”
The house has fascinated many of his TikTok followers.
At the moment, the video has recorded over 50.5k views.
