The police on Monday, charged a 30-year-old man, Daniel Adebayo, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, over alleged assault.
Adebayo, whose address was not stated, is standing trial on a one-count charge of assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp. Samuel Owolabi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 26, at about 8.00 p.m, at Elebu, Ibadan.
He alleged that following a misunderstanding, the defendant punched one Ademiluyi Adedayo, severally on her face and body, which caused her injuries.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant was eventually arrested by the police.
He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of section 355 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Gladys Olanrewaju, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until June 8, for hearing.
