An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered the remand of a 28- year-old man, Augustine Duruaku, at Kirikiri Correctional Centre, for allegedly raping and impregnating his neighbour’s 15-year-old daughter.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr L. A Owolabi, did not take the plea of the defendant.
He ordered a remand of the defendant at the Correctional Service, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The court, consequently, adjourned the case until Dec. 10, for mention.
The defendant, a trader, who resides at 71, Jinadu St., Ajangbadi, Lagos , is charged with sexual assault and defilement.
The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji told alleged that the offences were committed on Sept. 18, at the defendant’s residence.
He alleged that the defendant lured the girl into his room, shut the door, and defiled her.
He alleged that the girl consequently, fell sick, and was confirmed pregnant.

Ademigbuji alleged that the victim had told her aunty how she was defiled by the defendant.
The offences contravene the provisions of sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
