Man, 27, docked for allegedly stealing television sets, money

A 27-year-old man, Michael Movie, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing 50 television sets, and money meant for their repairs.
The defendant is standing trial before Magistrate Lateef Layeni, on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, SP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 22, at St. Peter Road in Ojo, Alaba.
He alleged that the defendant conspired with others, now at large, to steal 50 different television sets which values are yet to be determined.

The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant stole the sum of N50 million meant for the repairs of the television sets.
The offences, he said, contravene the provisions of Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Magistrate Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira, with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until July 29, for mention.
