Let’s support genuine efforts at rebuilding our party – Opomulero Osun

A socio-political group in Osun All Progressives Congress (APC), Opomulero Osun, has appealed to all well-meaning party members to support the current efforts at strengthening the party in the state.

Likening it to what was witnessed in 2004 when the rebuilding of the progressive party Alliance for Democracy (AD) commenced after the catastrophic 2003 election, the group commended Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for the all inclusive approaches in giving new life to party administration in the state.

In a statement released by the PRO, Oluomo Sunday Akere, the group lauded the effort of the governor to see that power genuinely rests in the party, contrary to the past where two or three individuals act as Alpha and Omega in determining the fate of party members in the state.

Citing examples like nomination of members into the state cabinet, composition of the rent tribunals, composition of the local education boards and recently the local government caretaker committee, the group commended the governor for showing that power genuinely belongs to the people by relying on names suggested from the wards in drawing up the team.

On the statement credited to a former top member of the last administration in the state on running of the affairs of government, the group appealed to all members of the party not to comment on the issues raised while appealing to those “crying more than the bereaved to leave us alone and allow us to run the affairs of our state the best way it suits us.”

On the preparation for the scheduled congresses of the party, the group commended the open participation approach being adopted from the ward to the state level.

He said meetings of the elders were called, where federal constituency leaders were entrusted with coordinating preparation towards local and ward levels congresses while all members were given a level playing ground in the nomination of candidates for the various party positions.

Appealing to party members not showing commitments yet, the group advised on the need for all to bury the hatchet because the strangers are hanging by the side and must not be allowed to inherit our property.

In conclusion, Opomulero Osun appealed to the security operatives to be proactive in monitoring the congress across the 332 wards in the state and stem in the bud the alleged plans of some people to disturb the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the state through importation of thugs and miscreants from neighboring states.
