Chief security officer to a former head of state, the late General Sani Abacha, and chairman Apudi Institute for Peace Studies and Social Rehabilitation, Hamza Al-Mustapha, has called on all Nigerians to aspire to “pursue only those issues and things that unite us a Nation and eschew the things that divide us.”
Alhaji Al-Mustapha made this call while receiving Award of Excellence in Humanitarian Service, from a group, APC Grassroots Youth for Change, in Abuja.
In his speech, the retired soldier now a philanthropist asked Nigerian youths to “look inwards and see the things that bind us together and eschew the wrong steps of those beating the drums of war.”
Read him: “Nigeria is a beautiful country with diverse peoples who bring different qualities, attributes and services that serve to beautify our country.
“I can tell you, there is no other country that I know that is more beautiful that Nigeria. Yes, some of our fathers have made the mistake of taking the wrong steps that have deepened the ethnic fault lines but the young ones should look to the future and see the shared destiny of our people.
“The division of the country into geopolitical zones for instance, is not meant to divide us as a people, but to make service delivery and administration more effective.”
Speaking during the award ceremony, the National Coordinator of APC Grassroots Youths for Change, Honourable Orlu Henry Manuchimso, noted that Alhaji Al-Mustapha as a statesman and patriot had remained unwavering in his commitment to a united and democratic Nigeria and pledged to work with him to achieve the dream of a united and equitable country for all.

Your Excellency,
We have come here today on behalf of our group, APC Grassroots Youths for change, to pay homage to a great Nigerian who has sacrificed all he has in the service of our fatherland.
We recall and appreciate your sterling and courageous efforts to keep this Nation as one even at the costs of your own life at a very trying moments for our country.
Even after your were visited with untold injustice and punishment for serving your country diligently, you have remained unwavering in your commitment to a united and democratic Nigeria. That shows that you are true statesman, a patriot and above all, a good human being.
For the above reasons we, the APC Grassroots Youths for Change have come here today to appreciate you and present this Award of Excellence in Humanitarian Service to you. We also wish to tap from your cistern of wisdom, knowledge and experience in nation building.
Again, we have also come to solicit your support for our group and how we can work together in promoting the numerous humanitarian and philanthropic activities your NGO, APUDI, is carrying out in the service of our great country.
