As Christians begin their Lenten season and Muslims embark on the holy month of Ramadan, Nigerians are being urged to recognise the divine opportunity for peaceful coexistence and religious harmony.
In a goodwill message, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy President of the 9th Senate, emphasised the significance of this rare convergence, saying, “This season underscores humanity’s oneness and offers us a chance to see our religions as instruments of unity, guiding us towards a society where peace, justice, and love reign.”
Omo-Agege, the Obarisi of Urhoboland, appealed to Christian and Muslim leaders to leverage this unique moment to preach tolerance and love. “We serve the same God; let us see each other in the light of our Maker. When we overcome religious bickering, Nigeria’s progress will accelerate.”
He wished Nigerians a spiritually rewarding Lenten and Sallah season, emphasising that unity in worship can chart a new era of tolerance and development.
