Dr. Tunde Lemo, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has extended a goodwill message to the people of Ogun State, congratulating them on the occasion of the new year.
In his message, Lemo noted that while 2025 was a challenging year for many families and businesses, there were encouraging signs that stability was gradually returning to the economy.
Lemo highlighted the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the CBN’s monetary policies in restoring confidence in the economy.
He pointed out that inflation was trending downward and exchange rates had stabilized, although the cost of living remained high.
According to Lemo, the new tax policy was intended to ease the burden on low-income earners while ensuring that those who were better positioned contributed fairly to national and state development.
The former CBN Deputy Governor also touched on the issue of security, noting that while challenges persisted, new counter-terrorism measures were yielding results.
He commended the security agencies for their timely intervention in preventing a potentially serious security threat in Ogun State.
As Ogun State prepares to mark its 50th anniversary, Lemo urged citizens to reflect on their journey and consider the path ahead.
He emphasised the need for capable, competent, and experienced leadership, and for citizens to play their part in building a stronger and more prosperous state.
Lemo noted that Ogun State was richly endowed with abundant natural resources, including limestone and bitumen, and that these blessings must be managed with wisdom.
The former Deputy Governor’s message concluded with a call for unity and a commitment to moving the state forward.
He urged citizens to remain united in spirit and purpose, irrespective of their differences, and to work together to build a brighter future for Ogun State.
With patience, commitment, and the grace of God, Lemo expressed confidence that the state would surely progress.
