Senator Jibrin Barau, on Tuesday, emerged as Deputy President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
With his emergence, the composition of the presiding officers’ positions for the 10th National Assembly has been consummated, with Senator Godswill Akpabio having earlier emerged as Senate President.
Senator Dave Umahi nominated Senator Barau as Deputy Senate President and read his citation after nominating him.
Barau accepted his nomination.
There were no other nominations subsequently, prompting the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mr Sani Tambuwal, to declare Barau elected unopposed.
