The lawmaker representing Eti-Osa 02 Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Gbolahan Yishawu, has reiterated his commitment to effective representation.
He emphasised the importance of continuous engagement between lawmakers and their constituents to ensure responsive governance.
Yishawu made this commitment during the Assembly’s 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting held on Thursday in the Ikoyi/Obalende area of Lagos State.
The meeting, conducted simultaneously across the state’s 40 constituencies, has the theme, “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Speaking to his constituents, Yishawu underscored that legislators were elected to serve the interests of the people—not their own.
“We are representatives of the people. They voted us to be their voice in the state. We must engage with them regularly, take their feedback, and report back on our activities,” he noted.
The lawmaker explained that the annual stakeholders’ meeting provided a platform for legislators to brief constituents, deliberate on community issues, such as child abuse, drug abuse, and security, and receive fresh inputs to guide policymaking.
He highlighted his interventions in the education and health sectors and entrepreneurship annually.
According to him, they include annual free1,000 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board forms; 300 General Certificate of Education forms, and scholarships for students, who secure university admission annually.

“Also, vocational training programmes, digital skills acquisition, and entrepreneurial support for traders and artisans have continued to empower residents of Eti-Osa.
“From scholarships to vocational equipment, from youth empowerment to digital training labs, our goal is to provide opportunities for growth and self-reliance.
“These initiatives ensure that no young person has an excuse not to pursue education or a skill,” he said.
Yishawu urged residents to protect public infrastructure and hold leaders accountable, describing governance as “a two-way street” that required active participation of both citizens and their representatives.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Yishawu, at the meeting, presented financial support to 15 students from his constituency, who recently gained admission into higher institutions.
Some of the beneficiaries had earlier benefited from the free JAMB forms distributed by his office.
Earlier, Lagos State Chairman, Governor’s Advisory Council, Chief Tajudeen Olusi, commended the initiative of the 10th town hall meeting, describing it as a vital forum for constituents to interact with government.
“I am pleased with the performance of our representative in the assembly, Yishawu.
“I urge residents to continue supporting him,” Olusi said
