Senate President Ahmad Lawan has felicitated President Muhammadu Buhari, as he marks his 78th birthday on Thursday (December 17, 2020).
In a statement he personally signed, Senator Lawan said in part: “Mr President, in all the years of his leadership of our country has shown undeniable commitment to the unity, peace and even development of Nigeria.
“As a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), I am also delighted with President Buhari over the process he has set in motion for reforming and rebuilding our great party for fulfilling its historic mission of leading Nigeria into political stability and economic prosperity.
“On our part, the ninth National Assembly will continue to work harmoniously with the President for the peace and development of Nigeria and the well-being of our people.”
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, said President Buhari deserves being celebrated at 78 given his commitment to a better Nigeria for the good of the citizens.
“Nigeria and Nigerians have gained a lot from your wealth of experience and selfless service to the country and humanity in your 78-year sojourn on mother earth.
“As our leader, your humility, dedication to the unity of Nigeria and commitment to making the country better are unquestionable,” the Speaker said.
“Under our great party, the APC, you have redefined selfless service,” Gbajabiamila said, adding that “Nigerians should continue to support the President for there are better days ahead.”
“All that the President needs is our support and prayers. Whether you’re in the ruling party or the opposition, you need to support and pray for President Buhari to succeed.
“I am optimistic that with the right support and prayers from all stakeholders, President Buhari will exceed our expectations,” Gbajabiamila said.
Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, said President Buhari has demonstrated unparalleled leadership skills, patriotism, integrity and courage in steering the ship of Nigeria.
He said: “On behalf of my family, the government and people of Lagos State, I congratulate our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari on the occasion of his 78th birthday. You have sacrificed the greater part of your adult life in service of our dear country. Therefore, you deserve to be celebrated.
“Since you assumed office on May 29, 2015, you have provided honest and transparent leadership and your achievements in the fight against corruption, has earned Nigeria respect in the comity of nations. You are a true leader that’s worthy of emulation.
