Lauretta Onochie has mocked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration following a statement by the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, that the president walks about 100 metres from his residence within the Presidential Villa to his office because he dislikes using convoys.
Onochie, a former presidential aide, reacted sarcastically to the revelation, describing the president’s short walk to his office as something Nigerians should celebrate.
In a post shared on social media, Onochie congratulated Tinubu over what she portrayed as an unusually difficult journey, sarcastically suggesting that the president has to “climb the mountains,” “swim through the sea” and “walk through the valleys” to reach his office.
She questioned the significance being attached to the president’s decision to walk from his residence to his office within the same Villa complex.
“Trekking to work is now an achievement,” Onochie wrote, mocking the narrative surrounding the president’s reported walking routine.
She also launched a broader criticism of Tinubu’s appointees, questioning their judgment and describing them as a form of punishment for the president.
“Who are these people? Which part of hell are they from?” she asked.
Onochie added that she had previously argued that Tinubu “must have been horrible in his past life” and that his current appointees were his punishments.

Her comments came after Adedeji reportedly highlighted the president’s preference for avoiding convoys by walking the short distance between his residence and office within the Villa.
While the revelation appeared intended to portray Tinubu as someone who avoids the inconvenience and security implications of moving with a large convoy within the Presidential Villa, Onochie interpreted the development differently, using it to question what she considered the tendency of government officials to present ordinary activities as notable achievements.
The exchange has since added another layer to the ongoing public debate over the president’s lifestyle, security arrangements and the manner in which officials communicate details about his daily activities.
