• As NPF arrests Bwari-based kidnappers, parades 16 suspects for kidnapping, violent crimes, and recovers GPMG, other sophisticated firearms
In a decisive move to bolster the security landscape within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the recently launched Special Intervention Squad (SIS) by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has demonstrated its effectiveness through collaborative efforts with the Department of Force Intelligence – Intelligence Response Team (DFI-IRT), the FCT Command Anti-Violent Crimes Section, Anti-kidnapping Section, and other State Commands.
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the squad successfully apprehended sixteen (16) notorious criminals, recovering a significant arsenal of arms and ammunition, including a general-purpose machine gun (GPMG).
Among the suspects paraded on Saturday were three (3) Bwari-based kidnappers: Idris Ishaku, male, 27 years; Bala Umar, male, 27 years; and Dahiru Salisu, male, 27 years.
These individuals have been linked to a series of armed robbery cases and kidnappings in the Bwari Local Government Area and other parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Furthermore, the combined team of operatives arrested thirteen (13) suspects involved in various criminal activities. Notable achievements include the thwarting of a kidnap plot through technical intelligence, resulting in the arrest of the aforementioned Bwari-based kidnappers and the recovery of weapons from them.

In a proactive response to the abduction of a victim along with his Hilux Van, Police Operatives conducted an intelligence-driven investigation, leading to the interception of the suspects at a filling station in Kaduna.
Three suspects managed to escape, while one, identified as Chinaza Philip Okoye Michael, was arrested.
The victim was safely rescued, and the Hilux Van was recovered. Investigations revealed that Chinaza Philip Okoye Michael and his accomplices, previously arrested in November 2023 for similar offenses, had resumed criminal activities while on court bail.
Additionally, operatives from the DFI-IRT office intercepted Everest Magaji, a gunrunner, during negotiations with notorious bandits for the purchase and supply of illicit firearms and ammunition.
Eleven (11) pistols and two (2) pump-action guns were recovered from the suspect.
These commendable achievements underscore the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun to ensure the safety of the country.
The IGP urges all citizens to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities promptly, and contribute to the collective effort to maintain security.
