The Alabere of Abere-Ede Kingdom, Osun State, Oba Adefemi Mutalib Adelakin, has appealed to the state government to pay compensation to the affected residents of his community whose lands were acquired for the Free Trade Zones, five star hotel, Oranmiyan New Town, among others.
The traditional ruler, who urged the state government to work on the complaints of the owners of the land, made the appeal while fielding questions from our correspondent in his palace, on Friday.
The Alabere, who commended the state governor, Senato Ademola Adeleke for embarking on the people oriented programmes for the betterment of the citizenry, immediately he assumed office, enjoined the Governor to look into the issue of compensation to the affected land owners.
The monarch however used the opportunity to commend Timi of Ede land, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa 1, for the fatherly roles he has been playing towards the development of entire Ede land, including Abere community
He said: “I am calling on our amiable governor to also look into the rehabilitation of 9km Abere to Yidi Ede road which is the access road to Iwo, Ejigbo, Ogbomoso, among other neighbouring communities, as the road has become a death trap for motorists. The road is currently in a deplorable condition calling for government attention.”
The Alabere added that his community is developing everyday and it is calling for government support just as he appreciated the residents of his community for their unalloyed and unflinching support to him since he assumed the throne of his fathers.
“I appreciate you all for your love, prayers and cooperation to me and I assure you too that I will not let you down as my tenure would continue to witness peace and development.
“I want you all to be law abiding as you know Abere-Ede is a peace loving community, so don’t foment trouble, support government of the day and always work towards the development of our community,” Alabere added.
