The Lagos State Government said it was planning to distribute 100,000 packs of food to residents of the state free.

It said the food packs would consist of items such as Indomie, garri and rice that could feed a family for a number of meals.

The state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced this as part of measures being taken by the state government to tackle the hardship being faced by Nigerians.

In a live interview, Sanwo-Olu on Thursday said he had reached out to some of his friends to assist with doing this.

He said that the government would also make its Farmers Market weekly until further notice.

The Farmers Market in Lagos State connects farmers directly with buyers, thereby lowering the costs of food items.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the state government would also encourage Lagosians to have small farms in their homes to reduce pressure on their finances.

He said inside the Lagos House in Marina, there was a fish pond where fishing was going on and thriving.

He said there were vegetable nurseries and others.
