The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Lagos state council poll is scheduled for July 12.
Seriki made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe on Thursday.
He urged the electorate to use the opportunity to shape governance at the grassroots level.
He emphasised that voting is not only a civic duty but a vital mechanism people could use to determine who governed them, especially at the community level where policies directly affected daily lives.
“Local government is the closest arm of governance to the people.
“Your vote counts and determines the kind of leadership that will manage local resources and deliver basic services such as health, education, sanitation, and infrastructure,” he said.
The commissioner also commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for its commitment at ensuring a free, fair, and credible election.
He urged the commission to sustain public confidence through transparency and efficient logistics.
Seriki appealed to political stakeholders, party agents, and community leaders to promote peace and discourage violence before, during, and after the election.
“Democracy thrives in an atmosphere of peace. Let us all commit to a peaceful election where the will of the people prevails,” he added.
