The APC in Lagos State on Tuesday congratulated Sen. Gbenga Ashafa on his 70th birth anniversary, describing the former Lagos East Senator as a statesman of distinction.

The party, in a statement by its spokesman, Mr Seye Oladejo, said that Ashafa remained an illustrious son of Lagos and a distinguished public servant.
According to the party, Ashafa’s life has been one of devoted public service, principled leadership, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of progressivism.
“From his impactful years as a civil servant and technocrat to his sterling representation of Lagos East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Ashafa has consistently exemplified discipline, humility, and excellence.
“As a two-term senator, he distinguished himself in legislative work, particularly in infrastructure development, housing, urban planning, and transportation—areas that remain vital to the economic growth of Lagos and Nigeria at large.
“His tenure was marked by integrity, thoughtfulness, and a deep concern for the welfare of his constituents,” the party said.
It described Ashafa as loyal party man and bridge-builder, who had contributed immensely to the growth and stability of the APC, both in the state and at the national level.
The APC added that Oladejo’s wisdom, calm disposition, and institutional memory had continued to serve as valuable asset to the party and to younger generations of leaders.
It added: “The Lagos APC celebrates Senator Ashafa not just for the milestones he has achieved, but for the character and consistency he has displayed throughout his career.
“At 70, he remains a beacon of responsible leadership and a model of statesmanship.
“We pray for continued health, strength, and grace for Senator Ashafa as he enters this new chapter of his life. May he enjoy many more years of fruitful service to the nation and to humanity.”
