Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has denied submitting a letter of intent to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reports had emerged that Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, had written to the APC national leadership, signalling his readiness to rejoin the ruling party.
The reports added that there were discussions ongoing between Kwankwaso and the APC national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
Reacting via a statement shared on his X account on Friday, September 26, 2025, the former Minister of Defence described the claims as false.
Kwankwaso, who has been repeatedly linked to the APC in recent times, urged the public to rely only on official channels for accurate updates on the subject.

The statement read: “We have been alerted to some online statements suggesting that we have submitted a letter of intent to join a political party in the country.
“We would like to clarify that we have not made any such submission to any party.
“The public is therefore advised to stay informed of any further information regarding our matter through the established official channels.”
