A former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Kolapo Alimi has described his suspension by the All Progressive Congress, APC, Osun state, as a ruse.
According to Alimi, the “purported suspension” was baseless as there was no allegation against him, maintaining that the party did not, at anytime, query him.
Alimi who spoke with The Conclave in a telephone chat on Friday night said, “My purported suspension is a ruse. I read it online the same way you got to know about it.
“According to Article 21 of the APC Constitution, before anybody could be punished in the party; he ought to have committed an offence; an allegation must have been leveled against him; he must have been given the opportunity to defend himself and if found guilty, then punishment could be applied which suspension is part of.
“And, so, in the instance case, that process was not followed. This morning, I heard some people mobilise police to our party office and some people sat and said they suspended me.
“I was not accused or alleged to have committed any misconduct; no allegation was made against me whether informal or formal, and I was not called to come and defend myself against any allegation whatsoever.
“I count that suspension as a ruse; I have not been served formally with that letter, and I am still waiting for it.”
