The Kogi State Police Command has arrested a 100-level student of Federal University Lokoja for allegedly kidnapping and killing a female student named Damilola.
It was reported that after killing her, the suspect, identified as Jeremiah, allegedly removed her private parts.
According to sources, Jeremiah kidnapped Damilola and demanded a ransom from her parents.
Upon receiving the information, Kogi State Police operatives arrested him in connection with Damilola’s tragic death.
Reports indicate that the suspect, who hails from Kaduna State, allegedly abducted her and took her to an uncompleted building.
After receiving a ransom of N400,000 from her family, he killed her and removed her vital organs for ritual purposes.
Following the murder, the suspect reportedly contacted her family again, demanding an additional N10 million.
However, he was tracked down and arrested by the police.
The suspect confessed to acting alone and led authorities to the location where he had left her remains.
He stated that he killed her because she had seen his face after the abduction.
Meanwhile, the State Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, disclosed that the suspect, Jeremiah Samson, was arrested on Wednesday in Lokoja, and he was being investigated.
“Investigation revealed that after collecting the money, he went ahead to strangle the victim, dismembered the body and buried her in a shallow grave.
“He confessed further that it was one herbalist simply identified as Arab Money, who he claimed to have contacted on Facebook who prescribed the ritual for him. The suspect hails from Kaduna South.
Samson was said to have confessed that he decided to kill the victim after kidnapping her at Felele, around the school, when she was trying to escape from captivity.
He said the victim was his first target, but two bodies were exhumed at the scene, though the body of the first had decayed.
Police detectives exhumed the corpse of the victim with one other corpse buried by Samson in a bush along the NNPC filling station in Felele.
Aya said that the suspect would be arraigned as soon as the investigation was concluded.
