Kano State Government has renamed state-owned Kano State University of Science and Technology (KSTU), Wudil, after Africa’s richest billionaire, Aliko Dangote.
This is contained in a statement made available to The Conclave on Sunday by Kano State Commissioner of Information, Muhammad Garba.
The statement read: “Kano state Executive Council has approved the renaming of Kano state University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil.
“The institution is now to be called Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST), Wudil.”
Garba said the decision followed an earlier recommendation by the university’s visitation panel.
He added that the decision has been conveyed to the Kano State House of Assembly to study the relevant laws establishing the university for amendment.
The university was established in 2001 by the then Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
It is situated at Wudil, 40km South-East of Kano along Maiduguri Road.
