A Kano State High Court has sentenced one Khalifa Hamza Aminu to five years in prison or a fine of N1 million for unlawfully withdrawing N59.5 million from the bank account of one Yakub Mukthar without consent.
Justice Maryam Ahmed Sabo, who delivered the judgment, also ordered the convict to refund the stolen sum of N59,546,540 to the complainant within 90 days.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), represented by prosecution counsel Barrister Zalami Muhammad, had charged Aminu with dishonestly taking the funds between January 14 and June 4, 2025, an offence contrary to Section 286 and punishable under Section 287 of the Penal Code.
