Nigerian actor and lawyer, Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, popularly known as Kanayo O. Kanayo, has condemned Reno Omokri and others for calling out names of people to support ailing Nigerian actor and comedian, John Ikechukwu Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu.
In a very recent video on Kanayo’s Instagram page, the movie star condemned Reno Omokri, a former presidential media adviser, VeryDarkMan, a well-known Tiktoker and others, who were using Mr Ibu’s case to castigate others.
According to him, there was nothing wrong with the actor’s family crying out for help online.
Kanayo noted that those who had, would help him, and it should not be a reason to attack those who had not.
Mr Ibu recently requested prayers following his battle with an unknown illness that might result in the amputation of his legs.
In response to the news, Reno Omokri, stated that Mr Ibu had been a supporter of Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi, a Nigerian politician and businessman, who served as governor of Anambra and he encouraged the LP flagbearer [standard bearer] to step up and help with the thespian’s medical expenditures.
VeryDarkMan called out Nollywood actors to contribute money and support to Mr Ibu, while expressing his disappointment for them not doing so already.
Kanayo strictly warned Nigerians against using Mr Ibu’s name to trend or using his situation to castigate others.
In the caption of his video he said, “Gaining traction with someone’s misfortune, handicap, ill-luck is wicked. Give, if you have to, without calling for the attention of social media. One ‘ very dark man’ calling top actors shameless is unruly and attention seeking. @realmribu please get well soon.”
The actor further praised Williams Uchemba, a Nigerian actor and comedian, who gives to distressed Nigerians without including the federal government.
The actor said “people give out according to what they have and nobody should castigate those who don’t give or make their giving public.” [The Will]
