The Kaduna State Government, on Thursday, dismissed social media reports alleging that bandits barricaded the Kaduna-Abuja road and kidnapped citizens plying the route.

In a statement, the State Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the buzz in circulation was false and was presented by a group of social media enthusiasts who celebrated negative news.

He added that preliminary operational feedback showed that fleeing bandits escaping a military onslaught attempted to pass through a narrow corridor around Kasarami general area of Kaduna-Abuja road.

Aruwan said the troops, on receving this intelligence, hurriedly moved to the location and engaged them in the adjoining forest.

Aruwan said the State Government did not deny the existence of security challenges, and continued to work assiduously with relevant military and security agencies.
