The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal has declared former Plateau State governor and Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, winner of the Plateau South Senatorial election.
The Tribunal invalidated the victory of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the election, Senator Napoleon Bali.
The verdict, which priduced some dramatic effects, was delivered by the Tribunal on Monday afternoon.
Senator Bali, according to feelers, had directed his lawyers to appeal the verdict.
If the appeal fails at the court upstairs, and Lalong wins, he will be left to decide whether to resign as minister and take up his seat as Senator or he would forgo the victory and stay put as minister.
Watchers of the tussle at the Tribual keep their fingers crossed.
