The three members of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, detained by the Police in connection with the arrest of the Fulani Warlord, Iskilu Wakili, have been released but are perfecting their bail conditions.
The three detained OPC members were released in the presence of the State Coordinator of the Congress in the state, Comrade Rotimi Oguntade.
Oguntade, in a telephone interview with our Correspondent, disclosed that his members were released after a meeting with the commissioner of police in the state, Ngozi Onadeko.
Oguntade said the detained members of OPC were released based on their health conditions and with the proviso that he, as the Coordinator, would produce them whenever they are needed for investigation by the police.
Oguntade thanked the police for the gesture, adding that members of the Congress would remain law abiding and would assist the police and other security agencies in the task of ensuring safety of life and property in the state.
The development laid to rest the news doing the rounds that the OPC members had been transfered to Abuja by the police for thorough investigations on the case.
The Public Relations Officerof the Command, Gbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the release of the OPC members, saying they were granted bail on their health conditions.
Recall that the Commissioner of Police in the State, Ngozi Onadeko, while addressing some selected journalists in ibadan on Monday said the three suspects were arrested for razing the house of Wakili as well as the murder of a middle aged woman.
She disclosed that the confessional statements of the suspect had been taken, adding that residents with proven evidence of atrocities committed by the Fulani warlord should come forth with such.
Not only this, Wakili, in an interview with Journalists at the state CID, denied all allegations leveled against him, saying he was ready to defend himself at the appropriate time.
