The Federal Government has begun an investigation into the cause of the petrol methanol blend imported into the country.

Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, disclosed this on Wednesday during a media briefing after the Federal Executive Council meeting in the State House.

The Minister, however, refused to disclose the identities of the companies involved.

He said they would be made known after the investigations were concluded.

When asked if companies found culpable would be blacklisted, Sylva responded that the government was not in a hurry to mete out any measures until the actual cause had been decoded.

Sylva said that the Federal Government would factor in the vehicles of Nigerians damaged in the last few days as a result of the adulterated fuel.
