Jungle justice in Uromi as 10 kidnappers are burnt alive

In a disturbing turn of events, 10 suspected kidnappers with different assorted rifles, ranging from AK47 to the rest were allegedly burnt alive by an angry mob in Uromi, Edo State Nigeria, in the early hours of Thursfsy March 27th, 2025.

The incident has sparked widespread concerns over jungle justice in the face of public anger.

According to witnesses, the suspects were apprehended by local residents and subsequently set ablaze.

The community had reportedly grown frustrated over the rising incidence of kidnapping in the area.

Edo State Police Command has issued a statement condemning the incident and urging calm.

“We are aware of the unfortunate incident in Uromi and are working to restore order,” said a police spokesperson.

The incident has raised concerns about the prevalence of extrajudicial violence in Nigeria.

Human rights activists, Barrister Abraham Oviawe has condemned the burning alive of the suspects, citing the need for due process and the protection of human rights.

The Edo State Government has announced an investigation into the incident, promising to bring those responsible to justice.
