IN EDO, WE ARE ONE BIG APC FAMILY

My dear friends, political associates, admirers and supporters, I thank you for your invaluable commitment over the years.

As the 2024 Edo state gubernatorial election beckons, we are presented with another opportunity to join hands with our fellow party men and women to redefine the future of our beloved state. Unsurprisingly, within our great party, the All Progressives Congress, (APC), various interest abound as to “who” will be saddled with this sacred responsibility of leading us to victory at the poll. Daily, the number of aspirants keep swelling, giving credence to the viability of our party in terms of possessing able hands to lead meritoriously and creditably. Being one of you, I declared my interest to contest the election just over a fortnight ago.

However, in an attempt to objectively canvass party members on the need to support my candidacy, it is important that you do so with a significant measure of tolerance, accommodation, understanding, respect for varying opinions while also acknowledging the right of choice of others. As an individual, I frown at every activity that negates the principle of sportsmanship moreso when all aspirant in our party are eminently qualified to govern this state. These aspirants are my friends, they are my associates too and like me, they want the best for our state. Consequently, I humbly appeal that you desist from denigrating or casting aspersions at anyone of them; please, be charitable with words. Regardless of who becomes the flag bearer of the party, being sensitive will help forge the indispensable peace, tranquility, confidence, zeal, strength and passion that is required to win this election.
More specifically, there are some of you who are soiling the towering image and reputation of our most respected and very distinguished leader, His Excellency, Comrade Senator Adams Aliu Oshiomhole, the former governor of Edo state. I wish to vehemently oppose any attack aimed at my long time friend, elder brother and leader, Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole. Against insinuations, he and I have maintained a very healthy and productive relationship over the years. I cannot forget in a hurry the incredible pillar of support that he was to me before, during and after the 2020 governorship election; his devotion was second to none. In lieu of this and more, the erstwhile National Chairman of our party will continue to be a cherished and invaluable asset to our state and nation. Therefore, I urge you to heed my call, have an urgent rethink, and be wary of the antics of fifth columnists. This is the only way we can heal our divide, boost our chances, and prepare the party for a successful outing in September.
