The governorship candidate on the platform of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has been commended for redeeming his electoral promises to the people of Iwo Community while serving as Senator for Osun West Senatorial District.
This commendation was made by the leading Islamic clerics at Iwo Central Mosque while hosting Senator Adeleke who observed the Jumat service with them.
According to the clerics who enumerated some of the promises fulfilled by the Ede-born politician as multi-million naira scholarships to indigent students, sponsorship for hajj, power supply to the Iwo abattoir, among several others said, Senator Ademola Adeleke was a man of his word.
With the mosque full to the brim and a crowd outside, the cleric said: “We know politicians lie a lot for votes, but you are not one of them. You promised and fulfilled them.”
“We know those who deceive us. But we put it before Allah today that when you were a Senator, all what you promised Iwo people were delivered”, one of the top clerics declared.
Speaking further, the clerics who recited several verses of the Holy Quran for the PDP candidate urged him to help address other pressing problems.
“We know your late brother. He was very close to us here. We pray Allah grants him Aljannah firdaos. We want you to help us on Iwo-Osogbo road, upgrade our hospital, make Iwo water works function, facilitate completion of Iwo-Ikire road and give Iwo visible position in your government,” the clerics demanded.
Senator Adeleke while responding said he was in the ancient city to pray and associate with Muslim faithful during this holy month of Ramadan, promising that “Iwo will be duly treated as a senatorial headquarters with necessary upgraded and high facilities.
“I greet the Muslim Ummah in this holy city. I greet our fathers and mothers in Islam. I appreciate all the commendations on my past records as a Senator. I will not fail you if elected as governor of Osun state. I am overwhelmed by your prayers and support. I will come back to properly address the people of Iwoland on the governorship race.
“Today, I come to seek your prayers and I thank you for the prayers and admonitions,” he said.
Senator Adeleke was accompanied on the visit by top state leaders of Imole team.
The team was received by the leaders of the party at Iwo, namely Alhaji Seebee Bello, Alhaji Khalid Adeoye (the party Caretaker Committee Chairman), Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Alhaji Lukman Mudashiru, Hon Ibrahim Akala, Engr Ayodeji Bello, Alhaji Nurudeen Emiloju, and Alhaja Afusat Amoo, among others.
