It is official: Tinubu wins big, emerges APC’s standard bearer for 2023 presidential poll

With 1,217 votes, obviously more than a half of the 2203 accredited votes,  in his kitty, a former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, emerged as the presidential standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He beat twelve other contestants to clinch the coveted prize in a gritty race.

The build-up to the primary election that held at the Eagle Square was characterised by anxiety, tension and fear of disintegration of the party, especially against the backdrop of the shenanigans to zone the presidential ticket to the north.

Other contestants at the primary election scored the following votes:

● Rotimi Amaechi- 316 votes

● VP Yemi Osinbajo- 235 votes

● Senate President, Ahnad Lawan- 152 votes

● Gov Yahaya Bello- 47 votes

● Gov Ben Ayade- 37 votes

● Sen Sani Yarima – 4 votes

● Emeka Nwajiuba- 1 vote

● Ogbonnaya Onu- 1 vote

● Sen Rochas Okorocha- 0 vote

● Ikeobasi Mokelu- 0 vote

● Tunde Bakare – 0 vote

● Jack Tein-Rich- 0 vote

The results were officially announced by the Chairman of the Election Management Committee, Governor Atiku Abubakar of Kebbi State.
