Three armed attackers were shot dead in the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said on Tuesday.
“A vehicle with three armed assailants opened fire toward IDF soldiers conducting routine activities in Nablus earlier today.
“In response, soldiers opened fire, neutralizing the terrorists,’’ the IDF tweeted.
Weapons, cartridges and military equipment were located and confiscated, the tweet said.
The three Palestinians were killed, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The security situation in Israel and the West Bank has long been tense, with another recent spike in the violence.
Since the beginning of the year, 25 Israelis have been killed in attacks by Palestinians.
In the same period, 163 Palestinians have been killed, most in Israeli military operations, or else during violent clashes or attacks of their own. (dpa/NAN)
