About 52 participants have graduated from the 2nd Innovation Fellowship training programme for aspiring investors and researchers organised by the Embassy of Israel in Nigeria.
The training programme which was put together by the Embassy in collaboration with the Office of Vice President, Skill G Nigeria Ltd, and other stakeholders, took place on Wednesday at Innov8 Hub on Airport Road in Abuja.
Tagged “I-Fair 2”, the training programme made its debut last year when the world began to slowly recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Ambassador of Israel to Nigeria, Mr Michael Freeman, “there arose a need for innovators and entrepreneurs to invent new ways of making life easier with fresh ideas and inventions that could be brought to life.”
Mr Freeman pointed out that the I-fair had become a platform for promoting innovation and and entrepreneurship, adding that “it is one amazing example of countless, possible collaborations between Israel and Nigeria.”
“Israel is a world leader in the areas of Agriculture, Water, Health, Education, CyberTechnology, Innovation, Security and much more, and we are very excited to share our knowledge with Nigeria and the world,” he added.
Speaking at the event, the deputy chief of mission of the embassy of the state Israel Mr Yotam Kreiman commended key stakeholders who in their various capacities made the training of the beneficiaries of the I-FAIR2 initiative a huge success.
The deputy chief of Mission challenged the participants to take the knowledge they have acquired their training seriously and aspire to become mentors for next participants of the IFAIR-3 scheduled to take place next year.
In his address, Mr Edward Singhatey who represented the founder of Gregory University Uturu and one of the brains behind IFAIR, Mr Gregory Ibe said “the essence of the gathering was as a result of creative thinking by critical stakeholders who saw the need to spur great minds to unimaginable achievements.
He said “Rome was not built in a day, and success takes time to manifest,” and challenged the beneficiaries of the programme to take cue from mentors and innovators and make a name for themselves.
Mr Singhatey also lauded the past ambassador of Israel in Nigeria; Shimon Ben-shoshan whom he said, ‘worked selflessly to ensure that I-FAIR programme is a success’.

He further lauded the embassy of Israel and Skill-G Nigeria Limited for their tireless efforts in contributing to the growth of young inventors in Nigeria.
Also speaking, the owner of Makelab, Israel Mr Avi Ostfeld stated that for “one to impact knowledge, one must have people who are willing to learn.”
He appreciated the participants for their efforts in making themselves available to be trained.
Mr Ostfeld, therefore, challenged them to build better and stronger self-confidence to be able to conquer their world.
A participant, Adejoke Lasisi, led others to appreciate the office of the vice president, the embassy of Israel in Nigeria, Skill-G Nigeria limited for the priceless opportunity given to them to turn their ideas into inventions.
Highpoint of the event included, an exhibition of various products manufactured by the graduands and presentation of certificates to all successful participants of the I-FAIR2 programme.
