Isokan LCDA chair commends residents for maintaining social distancing during Osun-Ikoyi festival

For their total compliance with COVID-19 protocol, the Chairman, Isokan South Local Council Development Area of Osun State, Prince Wasiu Oyetunji Oyelami, has commended the residents and devotees who thronged the Osun river to mark the annual Osun-Ikoyi festival yesterday in Ikoyi community.

The Chairman made this commendation while speaking with newsmen during the celebration of the festival.

Prince Oyelami who congratulated the traditional ruler of the ancient community, the Olukoyi of Ikoyi land, Oba Yisau Bantale Oyetunji Otunla, Kodaolu 1, the Olukoyi in Council and entire residents on witnessing this year’s festival, lauded the people for maintaining the COVID-19 protocols.

The Isokan LCDA boss said, “the safety protocol of social distancing was duly followed during the festival by the devotees and worshippers and I also want to commends the entire residents for maintaining law and order, this is wonderful and am happy.”

Prince Oyelami who described the Osun-Ikoyi annual festival celebration as a way of praying to the Almighty God and remembering the fore fathers of the town said celebrating culture and tradition was not a way of worshipping idol.

The Chairman further enjoined the Yoruba race not to relent in promoting the culture and tradition of their various domains.

Prince Oyelami however urged the people of the council area to continue to be law-abiding and be in support of the government of the day under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
