The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has restored 22 state constituencies in Benue, Delta, Jigawa and Kogi states for the 2027 general election.
This follows court judgments directing the restoration of suppressed constituencies in the 4 states.
INEC said the action is in line with powers conferred on the Commission by the 1999 Constitution as amended and the Electoral Act, 2026.
—Restored constituencies by state—
1. Benue State – 5 constituencies: Nyamatsor, Ukum Afia, Konshisha III (Shangev-Tiev), Makurdi III (South East), and Gboko III State Constituencies.

2. Delta State – 6 constituencies: Aniocha North II, Ika North East II, Sapele II, Ethiope West II, Warri South West II, and Warri North II State Constituencies.
3. Jigawa State – 1 constituency: Aujara State Constituency.
4. Kogi State – 10 constituencies: Adavi East, Eika, Ajaokuta North, Bassa-Komu, Dekina Town & District, Ijumu II, Kabba-Bunu II, Koton Karfe II, Igalamela-Ogwa, and Ogugu State Constituencies.
—Party primaries fixed for June 16-25, 2026—
To facilitate participation of the restored constituencies in the 2027 general election, INEC has fixed June 16th to 25th, 2026 for the conduct of political party primaries in the restored constituencies.
The Commission said all other timelines and activities in the already published revised timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general election shall apply to the restored constituencies.

In light of the peculiar nature of this arrangement, political parties are requested to submit notices of political party primaries to the Commission prior to the scheduled date for the primaries.
